Vietnam today offers about 25 golf courses nationwide, but now hardly a year goes by without another one or two new courses being opened and a lot more are in the pipeline.

With the exception of DALAT GC – opened in 1956 – all courses were built in the last two decades, many of them designed by well-renowned architects – up to par for the most demanding golfers.

HANOI
Two outstanding courses are the below KING’S ISLAND and CHI LINH STAR, but more have been added like DAI LAI STAR, HERON LAKE, PHOENIX GOLF RESORT with 3 x 18 holes, etc. Others, like the Nicklaus course LEGEND HILL, are under construction, to be ‘opened soon’. Please contact us for the latest information.

KING’S ISLAND (www.kingsislandgolf.com) was the first course built in the north of Vietnam and features two great championship layouts – LAKESIDE and MOUNTAIN VIEW offer 18 holes each.

A nice surprise on your arrival there is the boat transfer to the the clubhouse on ‘King’s Island’. The course can be reached from Hanoi in about 1 hr.

CHI LINH STAR (www.chilinhstargolf.com), a beautiful valley course, is about 1 1/2 hours from Hanoi, but as it is in direction of Halong Bay – the greatest attraction – it is easily combinable with a cruise in the picturesque bay with thousands of limestone islands.

DANANG
Located halfway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon, Danang boasts some of the finest beaches in Vietnam in addition to two fantastic golf courses; a third – LAGUNA LANG (Nick Faldo) – will be opened shortly.

DANANG GOLF CLUB (www.dananggolfclub.com) – designed by Greg Norman and bordering the sea – is on its way to claim a top spot amongst Vietnam’s golf courses.

Not much less spectacular is another golf course in this area, MONTGOMERIE LINKS (www.montgomerielinks.com), designed by top Scottish golfer Colin Montgomerie.

Both courses can be reached from Danang or Hoi An in 15 – 30 min.

HO CHI MINH CITY/SAIGON
One of the oldest courses in the country is VIETNAM GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB (www.vietnamgolfcc.com), founded 1994. The 18-holes West Course was desigend by Taiwanese architect Chen King Chih, the second 18-hole East Championship Course by Lee Trevino. Transfer time is app. 45 min.

Also opened in 1994 was SONG BE (www.songbegolf.com), an Australian design. It features the three Par 36 courses – Lotus, Palm and Desert – with great combinations. Transfer time is app. 1 hour. After your round you can visit the nearby spectacular CU CHI tunnel systems and sample some ‘Guerilla-Food’ (transfer time app. 1 hr.).

Other rewarding courses are beautiful LONG THANH GC, TWIN DOVES GC (www.twindovesgolf.com) with its 27 holes or also excellent DONG NAI www.dongnaigolf.com.vn), to name just as few.

PHAN THIET/MUI NE
These are the most renowned seaside resorts in Vietnam offering great beaches. Golfers can indulge in two excellent courses:

OCEAN DUNES (www.oceandunesgolf.vn), a Nick Faldo course on the sea…

…and SEALINKS (www.sealinks.com), a newer course. Both can be reached from resort hotels in app. 30 min.; transfers from/to Saigon however are minimum 3 hrs. per way, therefore make sense only for longer stays.
