The National Park of Khao Yai, where still deer, wild boars, porcupines and even wild elephants and tigers roam, can be reached from Bangkok by car in about 3 hours. Located on the central plains at an altitude of about 800 m, the climate there is always pleasant.
You can choose from a selection of fine golf courses – among them two courses designed by Jack Nicklaus – with comfortable hotels located directly on the courses. Nearby Korat, Thailand’s second-largest city, offers good shopping, especially silk, and also well-preserved Khmer ruins. All in all a perfect golf destination “off the beaten track”.
The Khao Yai area offers an outstanding selection of courses with challenging PANORAMA G&CC, Seve Ballesteros designed MOUNTAIN CREEK CC, the Jack Nicklaus designed KIRIMAYA RESORT & CC, the outstanding CHARNVEE RESORT & CC and the Italian themed TOSCANA VALLEY CC featuring the leaning Tower of Pisa, the latest luxury addition.
Other courses worth considering include: Khao Yai GC; Bonanza CC; Sir James Resort & Narai Hills Golf Resort.
All in all, Khao Yai offers a welcome getaway from the hustle & bustle of Bangkok. It is an ideal destination for coupes to get away with friends and enjoy fine golf courses, 5 star accommodations and excellent restaurants in the cool mountain air.
