SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA
One of our favorite golf destinations in SE Asia. Siem Reap is home to 2 World class courses and 1 other good one. Numerous accommodations in the Centre of town offer a full range of options. Multiple restaurants and bars in and nearby the aptly name Pub Street offer lots of dining & entertainment opportunities. And of course the world heritage site of Angkor Wat is always worth a visit.
Golf courses are all within 30 min. driving time from hotels. All courses have modern clubhouses with pro shops, locker rooms and restaurants.
ANGKOR GOLF RESORT, opened in 2007, designed by Nick Faldo and one of the finest 18-hole courses you will find in South East Asia. It is flat and easy to walk but despite its young age has many mature trees and shrubs. It is very challenging, with water coming into play on all holes and an abundance of bunkers. POKEETHRA GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB is a 18-hole world-class golf course opened in 2006 and previous host of the CAMBODIA OPEN. Challenging course with water coming into play on all but one hole and an island green. Between the 9th tee and 10th green is a restored ‘ruloh’ bridge dating back to the 11th century Khmer empire.
SIEM REAP BOOYOUNG GC (formerly Siem Reap Lake Resort) is the latest addition, the 18-hole course opened in 2009. It has an appealing design with palm-tree-lined fairways, meandering brooks and of course a big lake.
PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA
The capital city of Cambodia is a bustling, up and coming metropolis on the banks of the Mekong River. A visit to Phnom Penh for golf is highly recommended and is easily combined with Siem Reap only a 50 minute flight away.
PP is now home to a number of World class golfing venues including the fantastic new Faldo design, Vattanac Golf Resort.
We recommend a stay near the riverside with walking to multiple restaurants and vibrant city night life. A great tour would include golf at the following recommended golf courses:
GARDEN CITY GC, opened in 2013 the course is always in spectacular condition. Golfers are greeted with a magnificent clubhouse and facilities to match. Only 15km form the centre of Phnom Penh and highly recommended.
VATTANAC GOLF RESORT, recently opened for play is the 2nd Faldo design in Cambodia. The course features miniature designs of Cambodian heritage sites including Angkor Wat & is a challenge and a pleasure to play.
GRAND PHNOM PENH GC, is a Nicklaus design that features a lot of the champion golfers trademark features. Long pars 4’s with hazards on the right & challenging par 3’s.
